Support Dogs for Veterans and First Responders

 Therapy K9 Team

(therapy dogs)

Helping our veterans and first responders goes beyond the individual person.  It takes outreach into the community, building relationships, and helping others as a team.  Seeing first hand how a wet nose, and 4 paws can impact a life, we knew that therapy dogs had to be a key part in our program here at Gateway K9.

Our Therapy K9 Team trains together 1-2 times a week, to develop an outstanding team, and highly trained canines.  Handler teams are civilian and veteran teams.  Dogs are trained to be equipped for any situation they might be needed for.  Reading programs at school, counseling sessions, work place, court, police departments, crisis response, hospice care, nursing homes, hospitals, we are there for you.

Dogs wishing to enter our therapy dog classes, and outings must be at least 1 year of age, and have already completed ours, or another basic and intermediate obedience courses.  They must be able to pass an AKC Canine Good Citizen test, and our own temperament evaluation.  If you believe your dog has what it takes, please contact us for information on classes, rates, and more.  All profits from our Therapy Dog Classes go back into Gateway K9 to provide service dogs to veterans at no cost to them.

Please contact us here if you are seeking to have our therapy dogs visit your facility.
